Why Is Technical SEO important?

While content and link building are an integral part of SEO, we often forget about the technical aspects of SEO. You can spend thousands of dollars on your SEO, you can have the best content and very high-quality backlinks from websites with high domain authority, but if your web page is not accessible to search engine bots, then your SEO efforts have zero value. There could be more than one reason why the spiders can’t crawl and index your website. It’s not a surprise that in SEO audits, the first thing people check is the number of indexed pages.

Technical SEO is a fundamental requirement for websites, especially for huge websites with thousands of pages. Let’s say you are running an eCommerce website and you have many technical SEO issues. It will cause a massive indexation gap and many product pages won’t get indexed.  These are issues that an ordinary developer won’t be able to fix without any SEO knowledge. That’s why many eCommerce websites have in-house technical SEO specialists. It is important for that person to understand how Google, Bing, and other search engines access and interpret the content on a website -where they crawl, how they render the content, which pages get indexed, and how quickly the site responds.

Without technical SEO, it’s hard to migrate websites, create optimized XML sitemaps and robots.txt files, improve site speed, reduce duplicate pages by implementing redirects, and create canonical tags.

Technical SEO is not easy. It requires both SEO and programming knowledge. So before writing SEO-optimized content, keep the technical SEO in your mind when you are developing your website.
